UPEI Ringette 2024-2025 season

Did you know that PEI is the only Maritime province without a ringette program at the University level? Well, that’s changing, UPEI Athletic Department has sanctioned the creation of a UPEI club team for the upcoming season.

Nova Scotia universities with the exception of Cape Breton all have a ringette team…so Dalhousie, St. Mary’s , Acadia, St. FX. New Brunswick has Mt. A and UNB, all of these teams will be competing for the Maritime University Challenge Cup in March.

With the recent national success for our 2023 Canada Winter Games team and our success with both U19 and U16 teams at Canadian Ringette Championships, it’s only fitting to give these fantastic athletes an opportunity to continue to play the game they love as they graduate out of their minor programs.

Planning is already underway, the management team is taking shape, ice is being secured ice times booked for Sept 15, Sept 22, Sept 29. Games booked with Mt A. Alot of good things have happened, but we need to share the word on these upcoming plans.

What are our goals: 1) establish a well rooted, sustainable, repeatable, financially responsible program, 2) to be competitive, 3) to provide ringette athletes an opportunity to stay connected with their sport. A UPEI Panther program that becomes a force to be reckoned with in the Maritime University loop.
