Bio

Jesse Assing joined the UPEI Soccer Program in 2022 and has since played a key role in the development of players on the island. He has held various high-profile coaching and leadership positions, including serving as the Technical Director of Stratford Soccer Club.

A former student at the University of Toronto, Jesse studied Strength and Conditioning, bringing a strong foundation in athletic performance to his coaching philosophy. Before arriving in PEI, he was the Head Coach and Coordinator at North Toronto Soccer Club, where he led the 2006-2007 boys’ teams, helping to develop top-level talent that often saw players get opportunities at Toronto FC’s MLS Academy.

As an athlete, Jesse had an exceptional multi-sport career. He was named the 2016 OCAA Male Athlete of the Year, winning an incredible seven medals in the 2015-16 season—six gold and one silver. His achievements include leading his team to the OCAA men’s soccer championship and a national title, where he was recognized as a Championship All-Star. Beyond soccer, Jesse excelled in badminton, going undefeated in the OCAA West Regional doubles competition and capturing OCAA gold, followed by a silver medal at nationals.

Jesse’s diverse athletic background, coaching experience, and expertise in strength and conditioning make him a valuable asset to UPEI Soccer, helping to shape the next generation of athletes on and off the field.
