MONCTON, NB—A first-half hat trick from Jonathan Kisse powered the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to a commanding 3-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers Sunday afternoon at Stade Croix Bleue Medavie Stadium.
Moncton (2-0-2), now unbeaten in four matches, sits atop the standings, while UPEI falls to 1-3-0, currently in eighth place. Over 760 fans were in attendance to witness the action.
The Panthers struck first, with rookie Jahmal Boursiquot finding the net in the 12th minute after a clinical breakaway left Moncton goalkeeper Soan Janssen with no chance. However, Kisse quickly turned the tide, scoring three goals in a blistering 20-minute span to seize control of the match.
Despite several chances for both sides, the second half saw no additional goals, with both goalkeepers on high alert. Janssen faced minimal pressure, recording just one save, while UPEI's Isaac Wolters kept busy with four stops. Moncton also dominated the set-piece game, earning six corner kicks.
Next up for Moncton is a home clash against the Saint Mary's Huskies on Friday, followed by a visit to the University of New Brunswick on Sunday. The Panthers will look to bounce back when they host St. Francis Xavier University at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
