UPEI Volleyball Attends Halifax Open
The UPEI Women's Volleyball team finished third in their Division 1 pool, but lost in the cross-overs at the 2016 Halifax Open Volleyball Tournament over the weekend.
Forty teams participated in the weekend event, a fundraiser for the Dalhousie Tigers volleyball program.
The tournament was held at the Canada Games Centre, which can accommodate seven competitive volleyball courts.
In the round-robin on Saturday, UPEI was edged (22-25, 23-25) by Central Nova, beat the Dal Tigers Junior Varsity (25-17, 22-25) and split with the Truro Lynx Senior Women (20-25, 25-20).
Despite winning the first game of the playoffs (25-17) on Sunday against PEI's Block Party, the Panthers dropped two close games (23-25, 13-15) to be eliminated from further play.
UPEI resumes play in the Volleyball PEI Sr. Women's League on Monday evening, with both the UPEI Green and UPEI White teams playing in Tier 1.
