2016 Women's Soccer Preview
Coach McDonald excited about 2016 recruiting class
Women's soccer is looking forward to the upcoming season with thirteen new recruits coming in as coach McDonald looks to rebuild after nine senior players graduated from the team. There will be a core group of seven Island players joining the squad Jenna Mae Ellsworth, Carly Connell, Erin Groman, Madison Doucette, Christina Lorenzo, Sarah MacVarish, and Emma Bradley. We also look forward to seeing the new recruits join up with our returning players which include; Danielle Younker (Rookie of the Year) and our senior players, Jerika Gimpel and Olivia Murphy who are both going into their 5th years.
There is also seven "off island" recruits coming into the program this year from various provinces (Quebec, Brittsh Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). All the new players coming in have either competed at the Provincial level or at top tier clubs. The squad will have a great blend of off-island talent, mixed with our best PEI players all coming together to create a successful soccer program over the coming years.
UPEI will be hosting the Mulligan Cup again this year (2nd-4th September) where the new squad will be on show and we look forward to having your support at this event and throughout the year.
