Reds extend winning streak to seven with 3-1 victory over Panthers
The UNB REDS picked up their seventh straight win, scoring a 3-1 victory over the visiting UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action on Friday night at UNB's Aitken Centre.

FREDERICTON, NB—The UNB REDS picked up their seventh straight win, scoring a 3-1 victory over the visiting UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action on Friday night at UNB's Aitken Centre.
Rylee Strohm (Kingsville, ON) was named the Tim Horton's Player of the Game.
The opening period saw relatively even play, with the REDS increasing pressure as it progressed.
UPEI goalie Sarah Forsythe (Riverview, NB) held off numerous REDS attempts, keeping the score tied 0-0.
In the second period, Mackenzie Keenan (Midhurst, ON) opened the scoring for the REDS with a power-play goal at 6:27.
Just 21 seconds later, McKinley Nelson (Calgary, AB) responded for the Panthers, tying the game 1-1.
Strohm restored the REDS lead with a high corner shot at 7:15 of the third period.
The final goal of the game came from Melanie Drost (Nepean, ON), into an empty net at the 18:24 mark.
With the win, UNB is 8-1-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL). The Panthers are 2-5-1-1.
The REDS are back in action Saturday against the St. Thomas Tommies, at the Grant-Harvey Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Panthers travel to Moncton to face the Aigles Bleues. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start as well.
