SACKVILLE, NB—The Mount Allison Mounties women's hockey team returned to the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre on Saturday night for the second night in a row as they played host to the UPEI Panthers.
An early Mount Allison penalty would create a powerplay opportunity for UPEI which Ruby Loughton would capitalize on to give the visitors the 1-0 advantage. Chiara Esposito would add to the UPEI lead midway through the period and the Panthers would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Both teams would trade opportunities and powerplays throughout the second period but neither team was able to add to the scoresheet and the teams went into the second intermission with UPEI still ahead by a score of 2-0.
The visitors would strike twice within the first minute of the third period courtesy of Julia Cey on the powerplay and Kaiya Maracle to break the game open to 4-0. UPEI would add a fifth just 3 minutes later the powerplay from Avery Penner. The Mounties would get on the scoresheet thanks to Hailey Simoneau on the powerplay.
