A goal by Kasper Lasia late in the second half broke a 0-0 stalemate as the UPEI Panthers edged the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus 1-0.
The game was fast and exciting with both teams creating plays. Moncton (0-1) did dominate in some statistics with 14 shots on goal to the visitors five. The Panthers (1-1) made their only second-half shot count when Ehab Mustafa centred a pass to Lasia, who chipped a shot over the keeper for the winner. Moncton had 13 corner kicks to UPEI's four. Panthers Evan Couturier earned the shutout in the win.
St. Francis Xavier University X-Men visit the Aigles Bleus Saturday at 3 :15 p.m., while UPEI hosts Acadia at 7:15 p.m.
