Charlottetown, PEI (January 29, 2024)—The University of Prince Edward Island congratulates the 95 student-athletes who earned U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian status for the 2022–2023 season. This number represents 49.5 per cent of UPEI's 192 varsity student-athletes.
UPEI student-athletes strive for excellence in sport, academics, and in the greater community. This level of academic achievement speaks volumes about their work ethic and to the quality of the coaches, faculty, staff, volunteers, and others who support them throughout the year.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes at UPEI and are thrilled that they are being recognized for their hard work—in academics and athletics," said Jane Vessey, Director of UPEI Athletics and Recreation. "I congratulate them on receiving this national standing and wish them continued success."
To receive this national recognition, student-athletes had to achieve an academic standing of 80 per cent or higher during the 2022–2023 academic year.
