The UPEI Women's Volleyball team beat the visiting Mount Allison Mounties 2-1 in exhibition women's volleyball played at the UPEI Sports Centre on Sunday. Scores in the match were 25-22, 20-25 and 25-18 for the Lady Panthers. UPEI avenged a close loss to MtA at a tournement in Sackville last weekend.
UPEI head coach Kevin MacAdam said he was pleased with what he saw on Sunday, particularly with UPEI's serving and strong play at the net. "Second year veterinarian student Sarah Noftall was extremely solid for us, playing her first games with the team, and rookie modern languages student Alessandra Corno from Italy continues to impress us." said MacAdam. "Both are strong, experienced volleyball players, and have adapted well to the faster pace of university volleyball" noted MacAdam. "While both teams substituted freely, UPEI was able to control the play.when it counted."
Next volleyball action for UPEI is a mini-tourney on October 16 at Mount Allison, including Holland College and current Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association champion Mount St. Vincent.
