Panthers place 4th in Mount A Invitational Volleyball
UPEI finishes fourth in season's kickoff tournament
The UPEI Women's Volleyball team placed fourth at the Mount Allison Invitational Volleyball tournament in Sackville, New Brunswick on Sunday.
UPEI had finished second in it's pool with two victories over Mount A (25-22, 25-16), and splits with University of Kings College (17-25, 25-22) and UNB Saint John (13-25, 25-21), before Mount Allison edged the Panthers by a single point (25-16, 17-25) in the second last match of the tournament. UNB Saint John won this year's title with a straight set win over Universite Sainte Anne (25-18, 26-24).
Coach Kevin MacAdam said he was pleased with UPEI's play in the season's kickoff tournament, which featured seven teams from the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.
"Laura Ready from Charlottetown and Alessandra Corno from Italy played particularly strong," said MacAdam. "We've got a great batch of rookies joining our returning players, and the team played really well in their first competition of the year. We play Mount Allison again at home next weekend, and we're looking forward to showing the PEI volleyball community some exiting volleyball."
The exhibition match is scheduled for 10:00am on Sunday October 2nd at the UPEI Sports Centre.
