Panthers Play Well at St. Thomas Invitational Volleyball Tourney
Panthers go 0-2-1 in St. Thomas Invitational
The UPEI Women's Volleyball team played well at the CN - St. Thomas Invitational Volleyball Tournament yesterday in Fredericton. In their first action following the holiday break, the Panthers lost 2-0 to UNB Saint John, but followed that up with a 1-1 split against the host STU Tommies. In their best performance of the tournament, UPEI lost 2-1 against the ACAA league-leading Holland College Hurricanes in the cross-overs.
Coach Kevin MacAdam was more than pleased with the play of his team. "Several of our starters were unable to make the mid-week tournament due to school commitments, but our rookies really stepped up and played some great volleyball," said MacAdam. "We're heading in the right direction, and looking forward to playing and practicing over the next couple of months." UPEI does not play in a league, but plays exhibition matches and tournaments.
The Fredericton Senior Blues beat Holland College 2-1 to claim the championship.
