The Capers bested the Panthers Saturday evening with a very close competitive game with the score being 1-0.
It was a very rough, tough and chippy game where the guys were battling the weather along with the each other. The fullbacks of CBU did an amazing job by keeping the ball in the other half with keeper Ben Jackson (Bury,UK) staying active and guiding his players to the best positions on the pitch. The Capers duo of Cory Bent (Preston, UK) and Isaiah Johnston (Milton, ON) were cooking early both shooting and dribbling at will trying to find the back of the net but keeper Evan Couturier stood strong with a few great diving saves.
The 2nd part of the first half of the game was just the CBU capers getting great looks through but unable to get past the keeper or missing the net slightly. If you hustle hard enough things will go your way, after an amazing cross by Daniel Williams (Pierrefonds, QC), forward Cory Bent (Preston, UK) put a goal past UPEI keeper Evan Couturier to put the Capers ahead 1-0 in minute 61!
Even though that was the only goal in the game it wasn't the only opportunity, in the 69th minute Cory Bent had a great look but another great save by the UPEI Keeper kept it 1-0
The CBU Capers played a very conservative defensive game to make sure that they were going to win this game and it worked UPEI didn't have a shot on goal for the last 20 minutes of play!
For his hustle and only goal of the game your subway Player of the game was Cory Bent (Preston, UK)
CBU's next game is September 14th at 3:15 at Dalhousie
