The UPEI Panthers will look to get into the win column this weekend with their final road trip of the semester.
On Friday night, the Panthers will head into Halifax to face the Huskies (6-8) who are 3-3 on home ice this season. In their first meeting of the season, the Huskies outscored the Panthers 8-6. Since then, the Huskies have won 4 of their last 6, including three in a row. Freshman, Hunter Garlent continues to lead the way for the Huskies as he leads the team with 4 goals 12 assists and 16 points. In the first meeting between these two teams, Garlent filled the score sheet with 1 goal 3 assists and 5 shots, however, in his last five games, he has only recorded 1 assist. The Panthers will look to contain Garlent and the streaking Huskies Friday night.
The Axemen (8-5-1) are 5-1 at home this season, and this will mark the first meeting between the two in Wolfville this season. In their only meeting of the season this year, the Panthers defeated the Axemen 3-2. Cody Payne, and Marcus Power led the way that night with two points each.
Ahead of the weekend set, head coach Forbes MacPherson said, "Our team continues to seek some consistency and we need to get back in the win column. It will be a very difficult weekend for us as we play two great teams, that are hard to beat on their ice."
The Panthers have lost four in a row, and five of their last six. The lone win in that stretch came against the Acadia Axemen. This will mark the final road trip of the semester for the Panthers, they have gone 2-5 away from Maclauchlan Arena to this point. Next week, the Panthers will face these two teams again, with the Huskies will be in town December 1st and the Axemen the following night.
