FINALLY! After losing a very tough one Saturday evening after leading throughout the second half, we were able to come back yesterday from an eight point halftime deficit to down MUN 79-65! Make no mistake, we needed that one! We really showed some signs of what we can become in the second half of the MUN game, holding them to 26 points while putting up 48 of our own. It has not been an easy time for us. We know that we can certainly play better than we have, and we are very much looking forward to the second part of our season. Our players have battled through a lot of adversity through our 2-6 start, including injuries, illness, etc. They have hung together through it all, and in fact, I believe that our chemistry may even be stronger because of it! We will have a couple of very steady and proven players returning after the break in Lorenzo Parker and Jake Kendrick, and we now have some much needed time to work on our game and get healthy! Our players are disappointed in our first half, and they have a lot of pride. Don't count the Panthers out yet!
It is High School hoops tournament time! My staff and I will be busy over the next few weekends on the recruiting trail. We will definitely be attending games right here in Charlottetown this weekend at the Colonel Gray Cup, and we will be heading to Moncton the following week for the Irving Hoop Classic! We also will be making a trip to Nova Scotia at some point before Christmas as well. I still very much enjoy watching the high school games, and will hopefully find some future Panthers!
Our next games will come in the prestigious Shoveller Tournament in Halifax, Dec. 29-31. Our first tilt will be a big one for us, as we will tangle with CIS #4 ranked Ottawa Gee Gees. This tournament will be big for us, and we hope that it will start off a huge and successful run for us in regular season play! Hopefully we will see lots of GREEN in the crowd at Dalplex during this event!
Due to the break, this will be my last Blog post until Jan. 5, 2017. I want to take a moment to wish everyone, and especially all of our supporters and the PANTHER FAITHFUL, a great and Happy Holiday season and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
GO PANTHERS GO!
