The first place Memorial Seahawks hop over from their Island to ours for two this weekend, with game times set for Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm. A reminder that Saturday is "Shoot For The Cure" night, and that due to the Charlottetown Santa Claus Parade, parking at our facility may be tough until 7:00pm or so. MUN is off to their best start in years, sitting on top of the heap at 5-1, with 14 points. They come in riding a three game winning streak, and are obviously playing very well. Coach Benoite has his team riding high, and we will need to be at our best if we hope to beat them. Everyone knows that we are currently struggling. We have not performed the way we have wanted, and we take full responsibility for where we currently find ourselves in the league standings. We have been working hard in a number of areas to get better, and we are sure feeling that we will be ready to go this weekend!
We suffered a bit more bad news after last weekend's game at SMU. Sometime early in the second half, our 6'6 forward Dut Dut suffered an upper body injury. Early reports from our medical staff is that he may or may not be ready for this weekend. He has not been able to practice yet this week. Tyler Scott and Milorad Sedlarevic are progressing well, and Lorenzo Parker and Jake Kendrick are on track to be back at full strength for the Shoveller in late December.
Make no mistake, every team wants their fans to be great! But sometimes, teams may need their fans to be great even more. That is the situation we find ourselves in now. We are struggling, battered, have a 1-5 record in AUS play, and are coming off four straight road losses. We need our fans to bring us a positive lift this weekend! Trust me when I say that we are looking forward to playing at home this weekend. So here it goes… your UPEI Panthers are calling on the PANTHER FAITHFUL to fill the Panther Den this weekend, and to be extra loud and proud!
GO PANTHERS GO!
