A.J. MacAdam
Four years, four sports, four letters.
These few short words sum up the outstanding athletic ability of the late A.J. MacAdam.
He came to St. Dunstan’s University from Morell, PEI, in 1940. And although he was from a small community, he quickly made his mark on the new, larger sports scene.
He was a speedy tail up in rugby. He was a strong defenseman in hockey, and a two-time Atlantic All-star in this sport. He was a fine basketball player and the best all-round track-and- field athlete at the school.
From 1940 to 1945, he gave fans of all these sports many thrilling moments.
MacAdam was described as having lightning-quick reflexes and a keen sense of fair play, qualities that even his opponents respected. He also had the respect of his teammates, serving as captain of both the basketball and hockey teams.
