General Information
UPEI Ultimate is a Club Sports Team on campus which plays the sport informally referred to as "Ultimate Frisbee" and formally known as "Ultimate". The team is mixed-gender and plays in a variety of styles, including 7v7, 6v6, 5v5, and 4v4, with a primary focus on 7v7 with defined gender-matching ratios. The fall 2022 practice schedule at the UPEI Artificial Turf Field is as follows:
- Mondays 7:30-9:30 PM until Oct 31st
- Thursdays 9:30-11 PM until Nov 3rd
The tournament of focus for the team is the Canadian Atlantic University Ultimate Championships (CAUUC) which is held annually in early October. In October 2022, UPEI placed 7th out of 8 teams, which was a great result considering the team's lack of experience. CAUUC acts as a qualifying tournament for the Canadian University Ultimate Championships (CUUC) which is the national tournament in mid-October. The team also plays in club tournaments around the Maritimes throughout the year which are not necessarily university-affiliated.
Full-time students at UPEI or Holland College are eligible to join/try-out. For more information about the team, please reach out to the president at ultimate@upei.ca
