FREDERICTON, NB—The STU Tommies women's hockey team kicked off the season with a resounding 4-1 victory against UPEI. Right from the start, STU stamped their authority, striking first. UPEI countered with a goal, momentarily equalizing the score. Although the game became tied, it was just a momentary pause in STU's outstanding performance on the ice.
Tommies played very well and showed a magnificent game of hockey. Swift passes, expert stickhandling and precision shots peppered UPEI's net, leaving their goaltender scrambling to keep up.
STU demonstrated some stellar offensive plays, which led to numerous scoring chances. Coach Peter Murphy said : We did great, created a lot of chances, happy to start the season with a win. We'll get some rest and get ready for tomorrow.
The Panthers return home where they'll tak on the UNB Reds on October 13 at 7 p.m.
