Panthers pull out 4-2 win over Mount Allison behind two third period goals
The Mount Allison Mounties celebrated seniors night on Friday as they played their last home game of the season against the UPEI Panthers. The teams played a tight game and took a 2-2 tie into the 3rd period before the visiting Panthers scored twice in the final frame for a 4-2 win.

SACKVILL, NB—The Mount Allison Mounties celebrated seniors night on Friday as they played their last home game of the season against the UPEI Panthers.
The teams played a tight game and took a 2-2 tie into the 3rd period before the visiting Panthers scored twice in the final frame for a 4-2 win.
It was the Mounties who opened the scoring just 1:40 into the game when Jenna Miller tipped a point shot from Island Bernard-Docker past UPEI goaltender Camille Scherger.
UPEI would tie the score just 4 minutes later when Taylor Gillis picked the corner over the shoulder of Mounties goalie Bianca Zak to knot the score at 1-1. The Mounties would retake the lead before the end of the 1st period when Katie Bouwman scored at 17:42 on a pass from Lauren Steele.
UPEI would draw even for the 2nd time in the game at 7:25 of the 2nd period when Sydney Lyndon scored unassisted. This was the only scoring of the middle frame.
The game would remain tied at 2-2 until 6 minutes into the 3rd when Kelly Clements scored on a play assisted by McKinley Nelson. Jolena Gillard rounded out the scoring with 14 seconds remaining in the game.
Scherger saved 26 of 28 shots she faced in the Panthers net while at the other end, Zak made 33 saves on 37 shots.
The Panthers return home for a March 5 game against the top-seeded Saint Mary's Huskies.
