Panthers inch closer to playoffs with 3-0 win over Mt. A
The UPEI Panthers defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 3-0 in AUS men’s soccer action at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. The Mounties were celebrating senior day as they recognized two graduation players, Brogan Skinner and Vincent Bujold, before the game.

SACKVILLE, NB—The UPEI Panthers defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 3-0 in AUS men's soccer action at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. The Mounties were celebrating senior day as they recognized two graduation players, Brogan Skinner and Vincent Bujold, before the game.
The first half produced all the scoring as the visiting Panthers built up a 3-0 lead during the game's first 45 minutes. The Panthers opened the scoring in the 13th minute as Kasper Lasia picked up a rebound from a shot off the cross bar behind keeper Rhys Chambers.
Lasia picked up his 2nd goal of the game in the 33rd minute to extend the lead to 2-0. The Panthers would find the back of the net one more time before the end of 1st half, scoring late in the 44th minute off the foot of Taheil Davis.
There would be no scoring in the 2nd half during a game where the Mounties had 13 shot attempts compared to UPEI's 11.
The Mounties now prepare for a swing trip to Cape Breton and StFX next weekend while UPEI returns to action on Sunday when they host Dalhousie.
