Barb has been a strong voice for field hockey on Prince Edward Island for many years now. A alumnus of the UNB Red Sticks and also a big volleyball enthusiast, Barb recently retired as Athletics Director of Charlottetown Rural High School and has since put her focus into re-building the sport of field hockey on the Island. Field Hockey PEI's President, Barb was named Sport PEI's Administrator for the year in 2007. This was just a small recognition compared to the tremendous effort she has put in to organizing and managing almost every Provincial field hockey team that has represented PEI for the past two decades. She has been a second mother to many field hockey players from Prince Edward Island over the years and the Panthers are very lucky to have her involved in the program for a 5th season. Barb is married to Lorne Carmichael and the two have three children, Luke, Jillian and Harrison.

In 2014 Barb received two outstanding recognitions: Sport PEI President's Award and the PEISAA Charlie Ballem Award.
