QUARANTINE FILES: ZACH WILSON
SPORT: Track & Field
HOMETOWN: Cornwall, PE
YEAR: 2nd

Q: What's your daily routine like?
A: Wake up, eat breakfast, probably play video games most of the morning. Then after lunch, I try to read a little before going to work out or run around 4 p.m. Eat after working out, then maybe a walk, and a bit more PS4 before bed. My sleep schedule has been a little messed up but I get at least 8 hours every night. I've tried to keep a very similar daily schedule to what I had before quarantine started, minus the schoolwork of course.
Q: What are you doing to prepare for the 2020-21 season?
A: I continued my routine of lifting weights and going to the track for a workout three days a week, with a stretching/recovery day on the weekend. Obviously, with the gym being closed and the track not being open, it has been a bit more difficult to get the workouts I want. Running on a gravel track is not ideal, but it's definitely doable and I'm making the most of the situation.
Q: What (creative) ways are you working on your skill development while at home?
A: Lots of YouTube videos to help me work on my form and endurance while sprinting, and I have tried to record myself more while at the track to get a better understanding of where my running technique needs work.
Q: What is your nutrition program like?
A: Thankfully my meals haven't changed dramatically since quarantine. A large breakfast, lunch and supper provide lots of fuel, and I snack constantly whenever I feel hungry. I also try to drink as much water as possible, usually two to three bottles a day.
Q: How are you staying connected with teammates, friends and family?
A: My family has been working from home, so I have actually seen them a lot more than I had during the rest of the school year. As for my friends, we play PS4 almost every day, and we started playing golf a couple of times a week since the courses opened.
Q: When the anxiety of living during a pandemic gets to be overwhelming what do you do to get through it?
A: I like to go for a walk or a drive and listen to music. I find it helps let my mind wander and reduce my stress level quickly.
Q: What's something new you've been doing during this time?
A: Not necessarily new, but I now have the time to read a lot more (thankfully no more textbooks to look at for a while). I used to read a lot when I was younger, so it's been nice to finally read some of the books that had been collecting dust on my shelves.
Q: What's the one thing you miss the most?
A: There's so many things that I'm not sure where to begin. School specific, I miss being able to see all of my friends around campus. It's hard not to feel isolated when you can't really leave your home to do anything, so I am very hopeful that we will get to go back to UPEI in the fall.
Q: What's your go-to binge-worthy TV show? Why?
A: The Last Dance is awesome to watch. Definitely going to watch it again.
Q: Best movie franchise to watch while quarantined? Why?
A: Any film from The Dark Knight trilogy. It's one of the best movie franchises ever made. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is great to watch too.
